Presentations
at Professional Conferences
With San Francisco being the major hub for scientific conferences (e.g., Moscone Convention Center being in the vicinity of and hosting some of the SFU activities) and with the proximity of Silicon Valley, the SFU students have ample opportunity to participate in and present at the major, professional national and international meetings and conferences.
Participation in the professional conferences is of paramount importance for successful careers for the following reasons:
> meeting and getting personally acquainted and networking with other professionals (potential employers and residency directors);
> getting the most current updates on the recent developments in the field of the professional career (an asset in presenting an attractive employment bid or residency application);
> polishing public presentation skills (essential during job or residency interviews);
> becoming known in the medical, scientific, and/or techno communities.
> joining professional societies on site (networking opportunities).
